Valentine's Day Ball, February, 2019
The Valentine's Day Ball is a gala event held annually in February. The dress is formal and the occasion very festive. Starting with a Sherry Social and finishing with a Midnight Supper, it's the perfect way to celebrate Valentine's Day and anticipate the return of spring.
This ball is recommended for dancers with one year of experience of Scottish County dancing. (Those with less experience should confer with their teachers). Sample pricing, details, and registration information are here in the 2017 flyer
The Annual Asilomar Weekend Workshop is held in November.
Dancers from far and wide are invited to join the dance! This is an opportunity to learn the fine points of Scottish Dancing from teachers from around the world. Weekend activities include an informal Welcome Dance on Friday evening, Friday night Ceilidh, Saturday classes with live music, optional Ball review, teacher's choice class, the Kim McGarrity Memorial ball on Saturday evening, and a combined Sunday morning class. Dancers must have at least one year's dance experience and be at least 16 years old. Non-dancers are also encouraged to attend and enjoy the Asilomar grounds and events.
Asilomar is located in Pacific Grove on the Monterey Peninsula. This spectacular state park, with its historic buildings, 107 acres of woodlands, sand dunes, and ocean beach, is an ideal setting for the weekend. Amenities include all meals, comfortable en suite living accommodations, and rooms with wooden floors for classes.
